Macy Kate Talks New Song Ill Be Your Star and Involvement in The Swan Princess Series
Macy Kate: “I can tell you that it’s a super fun song and very inspiring. It means a lot to me because I go through so many ups and downs especially being in such a tough business and having a song like this is a reminder to me to keep pushing through those hard times even through the struggles. It’s just a super positive song and I hope people relate to it the same way I do.â€
Celeb Secrets: How did the collaboration with The Swan Princess franchise come about?
Macy Kate: “Well first off I am BEYOND grateful to be part of The Swan Princess franchise. I grew up watching The Swan Princess as a little girl and to be on the soundtrack is such a dream for me. When I received the call asking if I wanted to be on the soundtrack for The Swan Princess: Princess Tomorrow, Pirate Today, there was no question in my head. I knew I wanted to do it. It was a no brainier.”
Celeb Secrets: Did you watch any of The Swan Princess movies before being apart of the production? If so, which movie was your favorite?
Macy Kate: “Yes! I watched it all the time growing up. I was obsessed. My favorite was definitely the first one.”
Celeb Secrets: What was the recording process like for “I’ll Be Your Star?â€
Macy Kate: “It’s was so fun!! There were such great vibes in the session. I recorded the song in Atlanta with some of my favorite producers and writers, Blu June and Brittany Coney. A lot of people don’t know that I actually started out my music journey in Atlanta and I went back to my very first studio that I recorded in to record “I’ll Be Your Star” so it definitely had amazing vibes in the room and it was just super fun. We were dancing and everything.â€
Celeb Secrets: When you’re a little girl, everyone dreams of being a princess. What was your “dream princess†life that you imagined like?
Macy Kate: “Oh I always imagined a magic castle, pretty furniture, dresses, balls, a whole lot of everything! I was very imaginative.â€
Celeb Secrets: Why do you think girls should get a copy of the DVD when it comes out?
Macy Kate: “I think girls should get a copy because I love how the story isn’t your perfect fairy tale. Odette is such a beautiful person with such a kind heart and to see her grow through movies is really interesting to see. What I love is that she makes mistakes and isn’t perfect but realizes those mistakes and takes it and turns it into something positive. I’m inspired by her and i think everyone should be more like Odette.â€
Celeb Secrets: Are you working on any new projects that you can tease about?
Macy Kate: “Definitely a single coming out. I’ve been working so hard in the studio with the help from my mentor Flo Rida just working working working!!! I’m so grateful to have him as a mentor and he’s taught me so much from being around him. Yes definitely music coming soon, performances, appearances, I always have a lot of cool stuff going on so you all just have to keep up with me on my social media sites! 🙂 (@macykatemusic)â€
Celeb Secrets: Since we are Celeb Secrets, what’s a BTS secret from recording/filming “I’ll Be Your Star†for the movie?
Macy Kate: “We actually had a bunch of Chipotle delivered for everyone in the session because we were all super hungry. Haha! I guess that’s the secret! You definitely won’t see it in pictures in the BTS of the recording of the song haha.â€
